Rea Vaya drivers go on illegal strike

Johannesburg - Thousands of angry commuters were left stranded and arrived late for work and school as Rea Vaya drivers embarked on an illegal strike.
The reason for the strike has not been revealed.
Benny Makgoga, director of serve promotions at the City of Joburg, said he was been informed by the Piotrans and Litsamaiso - the companies that manage the Rea Vaya buses - that there would be an illegal work stoppage by bus drivers on Tuesday morning.
“The City will engage with the bus operating companies to establish the cause of the service disruption. We will provide regular feedback to passengers and the public through the media, our Facebook and twitter on developments regarding the service,” he said.
The city apologised for the inconvenience caused by the disruptions of these services.
