Johannesburg serial rapist Fanwell Khumalo has so far been convicted on 77 sex offences, found not guilty on 26 and the further judgment on 26 other charges will be concluded on Wednesday.

The chef, identified by most victims as the man who had something wrong with one eye, has been convicted on 27 rapes, 26 counts of kidnapping, four counts of attempted rape, 14 charges of indecent assault, five counts of robbing victims of their money and of common assault.

Khumalo raped and attacked numerous schoolgirls aged between nine and 13 between May 1997 and May 2001.

The Johannesburg High Court on Tuesday found that Khumalo is the paedophile who kidnapped and raped young girls.

They did not know what Khumalo was doing to them except that they were hurt. Some turned to religion after the attack. They testified that their lives were ruined.

The court found that there had been duplication on many of the counts on which Khumalo was found not guilty and discharged.

Khumalo, who was taken ill during the proceedings on Monday, had somewhat recovered by Tuesday, the fourth day of judgment by Judge Max Labe.

Khumalo complained that medication made him drowsy.

Labe will conclude judgment on Wednesday. - Sapa
