Vivienne Westwood made a striking impression at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week with their bridal collection runway show.

The legendary fashion house unveiled an immaculate 2026 Bridal Collection, marking the brand’s first-ever dedicated bridal runway.

Although the fashion icon passed away in 2022, her brand endures. Globally recognised for its distinctive and attractive designs, it continues to be celebrated.

Andreas Kronthaler, the brand's creative director and Westwood’s husband for 35 years, shared the inspiration behind the collection in a press release.

“Bridal has always been an important part of the house, since I started working with Vivienne in the early 90s. We are delighted to be showing our first bridal show here in this fantastic city; we took the grandeur of the boulevards and architecture as our first point of inspiration,” he said.

Kronthaler added: “The collection is a potpourri of past, present and future. Corsetry is the foundation; it enhances you and gives you presence. And tailoring – to add a masculine flair.”

The collection featured 34 bridal gowns with the opening gown being a recreation that his former wife made for 1995’s Vive la Cocotte collection and the gown was worn by Simonetta Gianfelici, who walked for Westwood in the 80s.

The wedding gowns that were seen on the runway were, of course, out of ordinary and gorgeous - with some looks included blazers, shirts, ties and trousers.

Some gowns were floral, while some featured flower pieces as part of the look, as well as pink and blue hues, which tapped into the “modern bride” era and shifted from the traditional white wedding gown.

In an interview with “Vogue”, Kronthaler shared the collection is for a bride that wants to feel unique.

I think what you get with us, you don’t get so easily somewhere else.

“I think it can also be a bride who doesn’t necessarily wear the clothes, or sometimes can’t usually afford them. But for that one occasion, they came to Vivienne. I think we are very good at making the girls look good without being too rigid,” he said.
