It's the winter solstice coming up so there's no better time to cuddle up to your television for some serious bonding.

New on DStv's BBC Food is Conrad's Kitchen: Access All Areas, a specially commissioned eight-part fly-on-the-wall doccie series following flamboyant Irish chef Conrad Gallagher as he takes on his latest challenge of turning the food and restaurants of Sun International hotel group into Michelin star contenders.

In the first episode, Conrad arrives at The Palace of the Lost City in Sun City. His brief is to upgrade all aspects of food and beverages throughout the hotel. This includes testing room service, the suite that will be occupied by the king of Jordan, and the hotel's flagship restaurant. All need some improvement.

- The Oprah Winfrey Show (SABC3, 4.50pm and 11pm): It's the advertising money can't buy - Oprah's list of favourite things, from posh to practical.

- American Dad (M-Net, 6.30pm): Stan is angry because, after getting his wife a job as an estate agent, she earns more money than he does. To try to get back on top of the wage game, Stan steals Steve's idea and starts a Bum Fight Night where he takes bets and treats homeless people like wrestlers.

- Less Than Perfect (M-Net, 7pm): Lydia, obsessed with planning her wedding, is driving her fiancé, Jeb, crazy. He decides to pay Claude to listen to Lydia discuss the wedding details so he doesn't have to, but it becomes complicated when Lydia begins to think of Claude as a real friend.

Tracy (Lucy Lawless aka Xena), the publicist assigned to promote Will's new biography, turns out to be an old flame, and they rekindle their romance.

- My Restaurant Rules (DStv's BBC Food, 7.30pm): After a trying week, the five couples flew to Perth to face The Bank, where Patrick will surely shout at least one person down.

This time the focus was on customer service, with each team asked to explain their model for service in their restaurant.

In a surprise twist, the judges shifted their focus away from the couples and entered a heated debate among themselves about whether the customer was always right.

With only two weeks left before the grand opening, the pressure is on each of the couples to find staff and get themselves and their restaurants ready before the first patrons walk through the doors.

- Everwood (M-Net, 7.30pm): Dr Brown is embarrassed after he picks a fight with Everwood's "patron saint", Amanda Hayes (Anne Heche). Little does he know she has been caring for her profoundly disabled husband for the past five years.

Jake surprises Nina by asking her out on a date; and Ephram and Bright realise they may have grown too far apart to salvage their friendship.

- Third Watch (e.tv, 8pm): Doc takes up his new office position downtown and gets a taste of paramedic bureaucracy. Bosco and Monroe become partners to keep a watchful eye on Yokas, but Cruz finds herself demoted and back in uniform working the streets. So to speak.

- Will & Grace (SABC3, 8.31pm): As if Will and Grace weren't enough, we now have Vince and Nadine (guest star Kristin Davis), another matching set of fag and hag.

On the other side of town, Karen is still mad at Grace so she decides to quit her job at the design studio, and goes to work as Jack's assistant at the TV station.

- Madam & Eve (e.tv, 9pm): Thabo wants to get Eve romantically interested in him so he follows Sol's idea of inventing a girlfriend in the hope that it'll make Eve jealous.

Marge has a diary disaster when she arranges a date on the same night with two different men.

- The Practice (SABC3, 9pm): In the penultimate episode, Eugene ponders his future on the bench, while Jimmy's turf war with Lenny Pescatore heats up. Ellenor has a run-in with Hannah, which should be entertaining to watch.
