American rapper Flo Milli has generated considerable online backlash after performing at an event shortly after the birth of her son.
The “Never Lose Me” hitmaker took to Instagram on April 25 to announce that she gave birth to a baby boy.
“& y'all better not play bout y’all internet nephew,” she captioned her post with a picture of her holding the newborn.
The rapper's fanpage posted a video of her at a festival as she got on stage to perform.
“Flo Milli opening her set at the RiverBeat Music Festival,” the fan page captioned the post.
The video was met with internet backlash because X users shared that she has just given birth and she should be resting, not working.
“Flo Milli being a week post-partum and performing at a concert makes me sad,” @jlissardwd said.
While @YMBIBI wrote: "Flo Milli needs to stay at home for at least two months to recover from birth. Why is she working already???”
However, some fans defended the 25-year-old new mom and shared that it is her choice to do whatever she wants.
“These Flo Milli posts are weird. Who said she’s being forced to go back to work? Maybe she wanted to? Maybe she didn’t wanna disappoint her fans? Leave her alone. Y’all love to bully people by acting fake concerned. Weirdos,” added @ashleyamora
@ilovebadbrown commented: “When Cardi B popped out at fashion week a week after giving birth, everybody was sooooo supportive, but Flo Milli does ONE performance and all of a sudden it's unacceptable???????”
Milli is not the only celebrity or artist who has been seen going back to work a few days or weeks post-partum. Many celebrities have normalised working immediately after giving birth.
Celebrity moms like Cardi B, Victoria Beckham and Gigi Hadid, just to name a few.
Cardi B gave birth in September 2024 and eight days later, she shared videos of her exercising. She also attended the Paris Fashion Week just after 18 days post-partum.
Beckham welcomed her fourth child in July 2011 and attended the New York Fashion Week eight weeks post-partum. While Hadid gave birth in September 2020 and returned to work two months after giving birth.
