"Desperate Housewives" had us by the throat; stilettos on our necks and all. When it first hit our screens in 2004, the drama, deception and deadly secrets were unmissable.

The show ran for eight juicy seasons, proving just how hooked fans were. If you weren't gossiping about Bree’s control-freak tendencies or gasping at Gaby’s chaotic love life, were you even living?

At its peak, "Desperate Housewives" pulled in over 30 million viewers making it one of ABC’s most-watched scripted series. Additionally, It won multiple Emmys, Golden Globes, and even got a nod from Oprah  which, back then, was basically sainthood.

This wasn’t just a TV show, it was a whole era. The show mixed comedy, mystery and scandal like a fine cocktail - shaken, not stirred. It was juicy, spicy and addictive.

And let's not forget the iconically desperate (and sometimes dangerously petty) women of Wisteria Lane: Teri Hatcher’s clumsy but loveable Susan, Eva Longoria’s saucy Gaby, Felicity Huffman’s no-nonsense Lynette, Marcia Cross’s ice queen Bree, and of course, Nicollette Sheridan’s deliciously scandalous Edie Britt (for the first five seasons).

And all this drama transpired after neighbour Mary Alice Young took her own life and started narrating everyone else's secrets from beyond the grave. Dark? A little. But "Desperate Housewives" knew how to make the mess irresistible.

Now, the series is reportedly making a comeback with new secrets, new frenemies and fresh scandals.

In development over at Onyx Collective and titled "Wisteria Lane", this reimagining is being written by Natalie Chaidez and produced by Kerry Washington’s company, Simpson Street.

The new series is described as a fun, sexy, darkly comedic soap/mystery, and it’ll once again follow five women with totally different personalities

So what can we expect this time around? Will the perfectly polished mums be hiding bodies in their back gardens again? Will someone’s steamy affair turn deadly by episode three? Will brunch turn into blackmail?

Because let’s be for real, if no one’s hiding a secret pregnancy or burying evidence in the rose bushes, is it really Wisteria Lane?

The new series is described as a fun, sexy, darkly comedic soap/mystery, and it’ll once again follow five women with totally different personalities (and probably clashing taste in throw pillows) living side-by-side in that ever-iconic cul de sac.

Behind the smiling selfies and #familygoals facades, secrets are set to unravel, again.

The original creator, Marc Cherry, isn’t officially attached yet, but there’s a whisper he might pop in at some point. As for our OG (original) queens, Teri, Eva, Marcia, Felicity and Nicollette, don’t expect to see them causing chaos (for now, anyway).

Still, this reboot sounds like it’s bringing the same drama with a modern spin, and we’re here for it. Wisteria Lane may have gotten a fresh coat of paint, but don’t let that fool you. Underneath the gloss? It’s the same old mess.
