Durban — Two people were allegedly stabbed during an altercation at a KwaDukuza beach on Saturday.

Medi Response spokesperson Paul Herbst said their advanced life support paramedics alongside KwaDukuza municipality lifeguards responded to the scene at Tinley Manor main beach after receiving reports of a mass stabbing.

Herbst said on the arrival of crews, it was established that a group of youths had an altercation and proceeded to stab each other with broken bottles.

“A total of two persons sustained stab wounds and are currently being treated on scene,” Herbst said on Saturday.

Police said Umhlali SAPS were contacted but they were unaware of the incident.

Days prior, Medi Response responded to the scene of a stabbing on the side of the road.

Herbst said that on Thursday, Medi Response responded to the N2 near the Ballito off-ramp for reports of a person stabbed multiple times.

“On arrival of paramedics, a man was found seated in his vehicle with multiple stab wounds. Two of his tyres were slashed and it appears as if he had broken down and was attacked,” Herbst said.

“Advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise the man before he was transported to the hospital for further care.”

Herbst asked motorists to immediately alert their security provider in the event of encountering roadside breakdowns.
