Naughty Mokoena has an interest in the outcome of the AmaZulu v Hellenic case - in fact he wants things to work out in Hellenic's favour.

Should Hellenic retain their Premier Soccer League status, then Mokoena probably has a last chance to save his career because he would have a club.

Mokoena's business manager, Mike Makaab, on Thursday said the player was currently training with the Western Cape side.

"He might join Hellenic. It all depends on what happens with their case and AmaZulu. If everything works in their favour then he will join."

Mokoena tried to revive his football career last season when he joined Moroka Swallows, where he won several man-of-the-match awards and in the process helped the team occupy the league's No 1 spot for a good six months.

But the Soweto-born player did not finish the season at Swallows because he was placed on transfer after having a fallout with the then coach Victor Bondarenko.

"Johannesburg teams are capable of destroying players' careers and that is why I am quite comfortable with a move to Cape Town," said Mokoena.

Arguably one of South Africa's best midfielders, Mokoena's career has not reached the level of it's true potential, thanks to his wayward behaviour, but the 27-year-old has a different take on the matter.

"Ever since I was sent home from the World Cup in 1998, everyone has used me as a scapegoat and nobody believes me because of that incident.

"I have made mistakes which other normal people have also made and I do not have any regrets."

The former Orlando Pirates and African Wanderers player said he would consider playing for Hellenic even if they were relegated to the first division "for as long as we can agree with all the terms".
